Code of Conduct for AVA Registered Clubs

  1. Encourage fair play.
  2. Treat all participants in sport with respect.
  3. Recognize athlete’s right to consult with other coaches and advisors.
  4. Provide athletes with the information necessary for them to be meaningfully involved in the decisions that affect them.
  5. When recruiting athletes:
    • Before talking to an athlete directly, ask permission from their most recent coach or parents.
    • Many clubs run try outs at the same time. Allow and encourage athletes involved in try outs for your club to also try out for other teams. Let’s give all athletes the best opportunity we can to explore all playing options and aid them in finding the best place to play.
    • Maintain an open dialogue with other programs. If your club is not able to accept all players interested in your program, aid them in finding another club where they might play. Conversely, if other teams request lists of players who may have attended your try out camps, please forward the names of all players who will not be involved in your program to interested clubs. Together we can improve the competition opportunities of all athletes.
